BANGS Shoes makes minimal, durable, comfortable shoes and donates 20% of its net profits to help entrepreneurs start businesses in the US and around the world.
Our collaboration with Hannah Davis, founder of BANGS, began with that most delightful tic of the elderly: their superhuman abilities for pleasant chatter. That old-school approach to small talk that feels like a warm invitation. Will’s grandparents connected with Hannah’s parents at a Nutrition event at the School of Public Health at UNC, and they each traded contacts for their respective offspring, one a socially-conscious film director, the other, a socially conscious business owner.
We reached out to Hannah and pitched to do some Instagram videos in collaboration with our friends Kam and Dana - a yogi/surfer and Chinese-tea-shop-tincture-maker, who live out of their van. We figured they fully embodied the company motto of ‘liveBANGS’ and Hannah agreed.
Woodwalk’s aesthetics towards intimate, lightweight shooting fit nicely with Hannah’s wish for a natural, authentic feel. From her base in Asheville, North Carolina, she coordinated various social media pushes to rouse her legions of adventure-hungry followers as we followed the enigmatic pair through the hazy sunlit corridors of Venice Beach and Malibu. The results have garnered some 10,000 views on Instagram, with the behind the scenes Snapchat story grabbing 1,200 impressions and high user response rates.
Being entrepreneurs ourselves, we were thrilled to work with a company that is so dedicated to supporting small business owners across the world, and hope to do so again soon.
“Working with Woodwalk was seamless and enjoyable because of their willingness to ask questions, listen to my answers and flawlessly bring to life the vision we conceptualized. I will work with them again and highly recommend their company to others.
